Maintenance Worker/Therapist at Kvarnbacken HVB
Värmlands läns Vårdförbund is a municipal federation with 16 member municipalities in Värmland. The federation operates HVB services in several areas and is a player in the overall development work regarding harmful use/dependency in the region. Beroendecentrum Värmland is jointly operated with Region Värmland for the target group of adults with harmful use/dependency and in need of detoxification care. Kvarnbacken is an integrated HVB home for adults that we operate jointly with Region Värmland. Riddarnäset is an integrated facility where we, together with Region Värmland, operate HVB for young people aged 13-20. Flöjten is our acute and investigative home for children aged 0-12 years. The federation also organizes courses and conferences in the field of harmful use/dependency and has a mission, together with Region Värmland and the municipalities of the region, to jointly develop work on harmful use/dependency in Värmland.
Description
Would you like to start working at our new HVB home for adults?
Kvarnbacken HVB, opened in November 2025, is a collaboration between Värmlands läns vårdförbund and Region Värmland (Adult Psychiatry).
This means that all staff, including treatment assistants, cooks, maintenance workers, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, and doctors, work together. All to ensure that our clients receive the best care, support, and treatment for their difficulties in life.
HVB Kvarnbacken will accommodate up to 14 clients, adults aged 21 and over with harmful use and dependency combined with mental health issues.
The staff group consists of doctors, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, treatment assistants, treatment consultants, maintenance workers, and cooks.
Kvarnbacken offers a unique opportunity to work with care and treatment in an integrated facility in a fantastic environment. Kvarnbacken is located in Forshaga municipality, specifically at Mölnbacka Herrgård.
The treatment will cover areas that are assessed to hinder the client and contribute to as independent a life as possible. There will be access to, in addition to health and medical care, school, internships, various psychoeducational interventions, and treatment programs.
We are convinced that our integrated operation increases the conditions for a cohesive care chain and qualified care and treatment.
We now need to hire a maintenance worker/therapist.
Responsibilities
We are looking for someone who preferably has experience from a craft profession and who knows a little about everything and loves the challenge of being responsible for an old property, with all that it may entail. The unique aspect is that you will also be a therapist.
As a maintenance worker, you will be responsible for everything related to the property, such as garden maintenance and outdoor environment, ongoing repairs and maintenance work, systematic fire safety inspections, and anything else that may need a little maintenance or a helping hand. You will be responsible for certain purchases of services and goods and assist the unit manager with property-related issues.
You are self-driven, have the ability to plan and prioritize, are solution-oriented, and always find the best solution to problems that arise. We also believe that you likely have a background in one or more craft areas.
In the role, you will also be responsible for the daily practical work that needs to be carried out together with the clients. Additionally, planning and implementing practical/work-oriented interventions for our clients, as employment is a mandatory part of our treatment program.
The time spent with clients during their placement at Kvarnbacken has clear goals and purposes, which means that you will perform structured activities during work shifts together with clients individually or in groups. You are expected to participate in all activities that clients should/can perform, both theoretical and practical in nature.
Qualifications
We believe that you have a mixed background and experience working as a maintenance worker/property caretaker or other experience in the craft area. We also believe that you have a background in social work; perhaps you are a trained treatment assistant/educator or have some other equivalent education. It could also be the other way around, that you primarily have worked in social work but have experience in craft work.
We place great importance on your personal qualities. Previous experience mentoring others is an advantage.
We see that you, as a person, easily establish contact with clients, are flexible, proactive, and have high stress tolerance as well as excellent collaboration skills. The work can be demanding at times, which requires calmness and endurance from you as a person.
You have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
A driver's license is a requirement.
Meritorious:
- Experience working in HVB homes
- Experience working in an environment where different cultures and approaches meet
Conditions
A valid extract from the police's suspicion and criminal record for HVB homes is required.
Probationary employment may be applied.
Working hours are preferably during the day; some hours may possibly be scheduled for evening/weekend.
The position may be filled before the application period has expired.
Welcome with your application! We ask that you submit your application via our recruitment tool on our website. Information on how we handle your personal data can be found here (https://www.forshaga.se/GDPR). If for any reason you cannot apply (e.g., protected identity), please contact the contact person for alternative application methods. We kindly ask for no calls from staffing and recruitment companies or job advertisement sellers.
